Types of Preserves
There are many categories of preserves:
- Fruit in syrup
- Fruit Butter
- and Pickles
It is critical to select the right fruits & vegetables. Below are a few tips on picking the prime produce (say that 10 times fast!)
- Choose sound, firm, and ripe fresh foods
- Look for good shape, texture, and color
- NO moldy, over-mature, or bruised foods
- Best practice – Can or preserve immediately after harvesting or purchasing
